Default buying a 70-200 VR from HK

after the recent plunge in US dollars, the HK prices are VERY attractive.

From tin cheung cameras the 70-200VR is like 11445 HKD. which is like $2289. I hope the shops in HK did not raise their price due to the falling american dollar.

mmm.... if I bring one or two more sets back, are people willing to pay $2500 for a full international warrantied new set? Or is that errr against the law to bring back and sell?

From S3 PRO DR to doing business You rocks! Profit of $211

Don't forget to declare GST... if caught with the goods valued above $400 and GST not declared, GST is 50% of the cost of the goods.

Better make sure Tin Cheung didn't give you grey set prices else you'll end up paying lots more.

You have to add 10% for the int'l waaranty as the shelf/internet/phone prices from T.C. comes w/out one.

ok thanks. Is cash price cheaper? Read in the other thread that cash price at the shop is cheaper than internet price.

But still with the plunge in US dollars, shopping/travelling in HK looks very worthwhile.

Selling at $2.5k I make like $200 but I think the savings for the guy who buys it is more than $200... it is a win-win situation. But if the price is more than $2300 then maybe not. See how much the price is like there.

Yes. If you go down to the shop itself, it's cheaper than internet price. Still, note that the starting price they quote you is w/out int'l warranty. As I said, you have to top up about 10% for that.

Which means (adds up to)... it's about the same price as those shops like Man Shing / Wing Shing / Kowloon Life in the Mongkok area. That was why I ultimately made my purchases from Man Shing. [T.C. is not an authourised dealer for Nikon / sorry, don't know about Canon]. And note that I'm referring to lens. Body only local warranty.

It may not be worth it flying all the way there to buy it... unless you happen to be there for biz trip or holiday.
