Default Any advice for a potential 602Z buyer?

Hi all,

Am thinking of getting a Fuji 602Z today. Sincerely appreciate any input any 602Z owners have with regards to the following:

How are normal outdoor shots?
How are the indoor fluorescent shots?
How are the colours?
How are the night shots and under low light (is it as so-so as the reviews say)?

Many thanks!

Was previously an Oly owner, love the colours and sharpness but had problems with the focusing speeds and shutter release lag. Have tried the 602Z in the shop, love the focusing and shutter release speeds, but can't tell how the pictures will turn out. So any help will be good!

heh, buy buy... 602 is nice... :P

normal outdoor i feel it's perfect, no problem at all.
indoor if low light may got problem in focusing
colour rich in red/orange i feel (more warm feeling)
as 2nd, low light focusing is very very bad. must be reasonable light in order to focus.

personally i feel the pic doesn't look good in LCD, sometimes when u disappointed in LCD but it may surprise u in pc.

- Outdoor shots are quite good, with very little chromatic aberrations.

- Indoor shots are fine too, if you customised your white-balance properly.

- Was a former olympus user too. The fuji colors are richer and more saturated. Nicer IMO.

- Night shots are reasonably good too. Little noise and hotpixels for long exposures. As for low-lighting, focusing may be a little tricky, depending on how low the lighting is.

Overall a good value for money if you like the features as well as the image quality.

How are normal outdoor shots?
Excellent, the 602 excels when there is ample light, shadow noise levels are extremely low and images are clean even at 6MP mode.

How are the indoor fluorescent shots?

Not bad, nothing to complain. Auto WB does it well enough, but you may want to switch WB modes under certain types of lighting.

How are the colours?

Great as usual.

How are the night shots and under low light (is it as so-so as the reviews say)?

Night shots are excellent(if you are referring to long exposures).

Low light shots are good as well, with the occasional problem of getting focus. But that is a common problem on most digicams without AF assist and it can be overcome with experience.

Hi,

Thanks for the advice, that was really helpful in confirming my initial understanding of the camera. The first thing that struck me about the camera was how fast it was.

Even at full telephoto, it focused fast and captured faster!! I have been occasionally using a EOS 500N, which is a very good mid-range camera, and was never able to quite appreciate DCs, due to their general slowness, until I handled the 602Z. It was quite refreshing.

If the Auto W/B is as some of you say, then i am quite OK. My only reservation about the 602Z is the lack of a AF light assist. I thought it will be quite tricky indoors with white light, but if Auto W/B is spot-on, then perhaps it is not a big issue?

I am a c700 user too. currently, eyeing on the s602 oso...

This thread has been really helpful in confirming what I reviously read abt the strength of S602, thanx guys...

Low hot pixel is one of the main point that draws my attention, c700 failed in this area. Somemore, low shatter lag and fast focusing is what I previously missed out from my oly uzi.

i'm currently a 730uz user, and if all goes well with my sales tonight (selling the 730uz), I will most probably be a 602z user by tomorrow lunch time.

so anyone want to buy this camera together? by 9pm tonight, i will know whether i will become a Fujian or not...

wow!!

We have many Oly converts here? That's good stuff!! Again, they make good cameras, but they seriously need to work on a few issues i.e. AF lags and shutter release lags, plus slightly undersaturated colours (but that's what Photoshop is for, i guess!)

Well, am getting mine tonight!! cannot wait for tommorrow!!

BUT i am very glad you are coming over to this side of the playground!!

well, actually got it off a friend, who was low on cash, he had it for about 5 months, so at $800, it was a pretty fair deal, considering unused lens converter, filter, and external flash (slave). Also threw in fast charger and Ni-Hd batteries, plus camera bag.
