    Default Sunset in Krabi

Was in Krabi during the Hari Raya weekend. Wonderful place to be, lots of soul and warmth.

Nice get-away destination. Try it out before commercialism sets in.

Krabi is in southern Thailand. Near Phi Phi Island ("The Beach") and James Bond Island. Also near Phuket.

The colors are effects of alpenglow. Just after the sun dips into the horizon, u can get nice red glows.

    Thanks for looking!

    Hi thanks for the comments.

Pic 27? Hee hee only 3 here leh.

These 3 pics are all from Krabi. No filters used. This is possible only because i used a tripod. I meter a bit off the brightest spot.

    Hi Jonny,

    Great shots.

2nd and 3rd pics are nice, with the 3rd one the nicest. 1st pic is a bit blur...

Thanks for your comments Zippy. 1st pic is indeed blurry. Perhaps i was emulating the guy in the pic

It was a photo moment and i did not want to miss it so no time for tripod setup.

I really like the 3rd picture a lot. it is really very well taken. plus it's very sharp, although 2nd pic is not bad also, but imo i feel that the big 'hill' kinda take too much space on the left, a bit distracting. but the colors are wonderful.

makes me feel like travelling also.

    sorry .. sidetrack a bit ..

does clubsnap organise any overseas photo-taking tours ?? maybe we can start one .. gather all the photography aficionados, book the tours, riding on bulk discount .. and arrange with the relevant authorities for access to scenic (yet ulu) places to take pics ??

this will also provide an opp for newbies like us to learn from the old birds .. on the other hand .. old birds get to access places which r off the beaten track ..

great idea ya ?? hehehe ..

jia lat .. dream dream dream .. no mood to wk liao ..

Thanks to all for your valuable comments.

Yup it is indeed S30. You can check the properties on openlens? I think i was lucky. I went to the vantage point an hour before sunset and just snapped away. It was overcast the whole day and a bit wet, hence the nice textures. I metered off the sun and adjusted shutter speed if need be. The sunset was indeed dramatic that day. Well, nature presented itself and i was lucky to witness it. Really nothing much i had to do, just set up tripod when it got darker. Hee hee i think anyone can do it better than this.

I have been trying to lay my hands on the Minolta 7hi so as to get better controls. The S30 is great for scenic shot. But when you need to play around with DOF and stuff, it is very limited. Overall an excellent camera i would say. It would continue to be my "sidearm" when i get my primary "weapon". In anycase i was quite wary even when flashing my S30 around (no offense, but i thought there were strange glares from the locals).

Krabi is a wonderful place to be. Many islands and great beaches. Warm and friendly Thai hospitality that exudes lots of soul and charm, unlike those you find in Bangkok. The smiles were from their hearts, their thanks were genuine. When i returned to Singapore, i really felt the emptiness and void. The "human" element seems somewhat missing. Imagine i was greeting and greeted by one and all when i was there. Just a warm "sawadeekup" and it lights you and the other person up. Then when i was at Changi airport, this Taiwanese tourist was asking the sales person about the cosmetic product she was about to buy and i was disgusted when our Singaporean counterpart blurted back loudly and rudely, "WHAT?!" "No LAH!" Then i went to buy dinner from Burger Kings and the girl behind the counter had such a long face i thought she did not want her job. Well, Singapore really feels empty and "souless". Try out Krabi, it is starting to get commercialised. Go during January to May. Dry season, best time for snorkeling and getting a nice tan.

Err.. Krabi is actually a province, is it not? And Phi-Phi Island actually is part of Krabi, not Phuket. It's just that Phuket is much more well-known to tourist....

Was there a few months ago. Wonderful place!
