Thread: Fuel economy car?

  1. #1

    Default Fuel economy car?

With the increasing of fuel prices, any recommendation for fuel economy car from 1000 to 1400 cc for consumption of 16km/litre range? Perhaps best way to save $$...

    TIA

wait for the new Chinese cars to be imported soon to SG. they intend to import those 800+ cc to 1100 cc cars. prices will be expected a real low of 30k incl COE...far cheaper than picanto, kancil, kelisa, etc

    Hmm... 30K?

If it gives bang for buck where fuel mileage is concerned, I guess it'll be worth it?

yep, news reported that the Chinese-made cars, have passed LTA's tests and in-principle approval has been given to allow the import of such cars. the OMV of the cars is about <7k, much cheaper than a C 1-series cam

given the low CC and granted that their engine technology might not be as efficient as their japan counterparts, my guestimate should be still able to clock above 18 clicks per litre.

kangoo is diesel drinker.. you're better with citreon berlingo or fiat doblo.

Diesel prices are catching up with petrol prices already.. it's reaching $1.2~/litre.

    yeah, i support green-fo-life!~

cooking oil as car fuel is tops. it'll be best if it can really happen on a mass scale.

Small engine doesn't always translate to better fuel economy. If you are the "passionate" sort of driver, a small engine is going to be revving real hard most of the time to keep up and that is really going to hurt the consumption.

Anway, came across this from the onemotoring website: http://www.neec.gov.sg/fueleconomy/ It's some new initiative to get car manufactuers to publish validated fuel consumption figures. The database is kinda small now but i think it's possibly a better gauge then the regular published figures?

    Hmm... interesting.

But den again, a car, insert key, half-clutch and go. Why race others and revv engines like u're doing some 100m drag race?

Even if u get a head start over that chao ah beng driving dat silly yellow civic beside u and win him, u'd have won the battle but lost the war.... on ur wallet as u see with each vroom there goes 0.50c, $1....
