Hi guys... Currently I'm still using my old GP charger to charge my batts which is 1800mAh... But if i were to buy just the Sanyo 2500mAh batts since my GP charger still working fine... But will slowly change my equipment all to Sanyo when my current GP charger spoilt. Will I be able to use the Sanyo batts on my GP charger? Will it have any bad effects my Sanyo batt? Thanks guys...

Hi,
Just like to share with you my experiences. Not sure if there are bad side effects in the long run. I've switched all my batteries to Sanyo, but i having been using my old Sony and GP quick chargers. So far so good. I do know that it is recommended (from the packaging) to use their own batteries. But I've been doing this for quite a while but they (the batteries) have been doing fine. I use them on my flash and PD7X and they are holding charge well. |

GP 2000 GP 2200 Sanyo 2500, Seems to be working fine thus far.

I dont think a 1800mAh charger can maximise the charge for 2500mAh batts. They still get charged of course, just that they may not go to full power.

No, using a higher rated charger will not damage the batts. In a way, you can look at it like "backward compatibility" - in PC terms.

hi i just bought sanyo eneloop batts and they should come fully charged..tested on my cam and it works too..
but when i tested them on my GP charger the red light is on..so i guessed maybe its not 'fully' charged and i left it there for 5 hrs and the batts appeared to be extremely hot..like about to explode.. wonder if anyone else has this prob..whereby the GP charger shows the red light even when the sanyo batts are charged...tried with GP batts no probs.. wanted to get GP batts at first but shop owner says they are not sold seperately and i have to buy another charger just for the ****ing 4 batts..so she reccomended the eneloop batts and said there should be no probs working on my GP charger... and i bought the 4 eneloop batts for $25..which i just found out they are on sale at $18.. i feel so cheated |

It is normal for batteries to heat up during charge (Excessive heat and one might damage them) and usage.
I'm using the Maha 801 & 9000 charger and if set on soft charge (On the 801), they dun get hot during charging (i.e. able to handle them without burning your fingers ). What I like about the Maha 9000 charger (If you have time to wait) is that you can also set the charging rate, hence the heat generated would be minimal. |

All batteries can be charged using any charger (I'm talking about those AA battery & charger). Charging the batteries slowly will prolong the life of your batteries, so unless you are in super urgent need of your batteries, always do a slow charge. (8hrs or more).
The only thing you have take note is not to overcharge the batteries. Fortunately these days, chargers have some sort of ic chip in them to go into trickle charge once the batteries have been charged sufficently. |

Correct! The slower the charging rate, the longer the working life of the batt! Heat is an enemy of batteries, and fast charging is theculprit.
Of course nowadays you see 1 hr and even 30 or 15 mins charger around! But those will damage your batt faster. The manufacturers knows it but they still churn out these super fast charger due to consumers demand.

Some when I have to charge fast, I switch on a fan blowing directly at them while charging to dissapate the heat faster!
