I think its a semi-pro model, or advanced prosumer model. Not a true "professional" level camera like say its film counterpart, the Dynax 9.

D70s is prosumer level. D50 is entry level. D200 is semi pro.

Dynax 7D is about the same level as Nikon D100 / D200.

Definitely! I am still not used to the smaller and often dimmer viewfinders found in most DSLRs nowadays.

DK-21M is 1.17x magnification. It bring my 0.75x viewfinder magnification on my D70s to 0.88x magnification.

    I like it!

A comparison for DK-21M. With and without on D70s.

Yes it matters. Especially liked those round type in earlier Nikons (F3, F90 etc) especially when you wear glasses...You can see the complete frame a mile away

One of the pressing reasons why I go for 30D over 400D...still waiting for 40D though.

Most (if not all) budget DSLRs have pentamirrors, which will be inherently dimmer than the more expensive DSLRs with pentaprisms. Takes a bit of getting used to, especially moving from a pentaprism to a pentamirror camera. Bigger, clearer, definitely better.

But my fave viewfinder? Manual Focus film SLR viewfinders! Like the one found in the Minolta X700. And as far as electronic viewfinders go, the best ever could be the one found on the Minolta Dimage A2. 922k pixels!

A big and bright viewfinder is one of the main reasons why I buy a particular DSLR. That and ergonomics plays a very big part in my search for a DSLR to use. Price comes last place in my shopping list.. :P

Ever since I used a pro body DSLR with big viewfinder, I never wanted to go back to those entry level DSLR with small viewfinder.

    Absolutely matters.

I look through my medium format finders and then look at some of my crop DSLRs and I think I'm going blind trying to see through the small finders :P
