Default Metz 60 CT-4

Hi,

I know the supplier problems are a issue for Metz flashes. But I saw this Metz 60 CT-4 being displayed at the The Peninsula Notel there selling at S$60, but just the hammerhead alone. I am tempted to try it since it is a bargain. But the flash bracket is missing and the battery pack too. Any advise?

I also saw this Metz 60 CT-4 at TCW for S$280, tempted too to try out new flashes but is the battery pack included or seperated, as I saw both the Metz 60 CT-4 and batt pack has the price tag of S$280. Didnt got the chance to ask as last Sat was Voting Day and TCW closed. I am down with a flu so I dont think these few days will leave house.

I am using a 300D so is Metz 60 CT-4 + SCA 3102 is it BTW?

TIA.

Regards,
Jack

For a new set of 60 CT4,the battery should come with it.but the flash cannot cop with the continous shooting speed of modern camera.

$280 is a decent price if the battery pack is thrown in. IF u go to B&S, i'm sure u see sets being sold for >$500.
anyway, the 60ct MUST be used with a batt pack, making it cumbersome. I really do suggest the 45ct because u can use 6As batt with it. Of couse, the power is lesser, but then, the 45-ct is already easily about 3 times as powerful as a 580ex.
IF u are using a hammerhead, i really do suggest u use auto mode instead of ttl. It's slighlty cumbersome, but exposure is really quite zun.

60 CT4 uses a dedicated battery pack so that $60 set is useless without it. but someone told me that you can use a quantum pack with the right cables. i havent verified that.

regarding 300d and 60 CT4. you might need to get the 3102m3 (or was it 3101m3) if i'm not wrong. i have the m2 version and it doesnt work with my 10d. then again no loss since the 60 CT4 works very well with the 10d (and 300d with hotshoe adapter) using the sync cord.

No offence... but how is the Metz 45-ct 3 times as powerful as the 580EX? Saw from Metz website that the GN for the 45 CL-4 (is it the same specs as the "ct" version?) is 45m at 35mm/ISO100. At the same settings, 580EX's GN is 36m (25% longer range for the Metz). When you use a lens that's 70mm or beyond, 580EX offers a longer flash range due to the built-in zoom head (from 50m to 58m@105mm).

Dun quite understand how come 60CT4 cannot cope with continuous shooting, old or modern camera. As mentioned there is a winder mode and a motor drive mode, if not just limit the output power to 1/2 or 1/4 should do.

I had a 60CT4 before. Good powerful flash but it require continuous usage. For a hobbylist like me, it is not a good investment.

The device start to have problems for not able to produce partial power. It was a pain on the maintenance. Cost me 250 to service and I have to travel all the way to Jurong....

Just a personal comment from a hobbyist not professional.

Hi

I have some over expose for pics taken with Metz 70 MZ 5 + Nikon F5 + 28-70AFS/17-35AFS

I set it to TTL. Care to share more about this?

TIA
