    Default Thumbdrive Died...

    Dear All,

My thumb drive suddenly told me that its not formatted. I have used it for awhile now but i reckon is has died. It contains a fair bit data which i need. Now, if i went ahead to format the drive, is there anything i can do to recover the data within?

    Can anyone kindly advice?

    Thank you.

Thumbdrive is a brand manufactured by Trek, whereas USB drive is a generic name.

The diff is insignificant to me.

wolfgang, you had any success? I have a corrupted storage card that needs recovery, Thanks to my best selling camera.

I've installed just about any recommendations previously that didn't work.
Those desperate installations are wrecking up my XP.

Try SanDisk RescuePRO...? Worked for my dad's O2's memory card. recovered over 500+ files

The name ThumbDrive is copyrighted by Trek...

    that's not always true.

Last week, the MBR (or boot sector) of my 120 gig Seagate somehow became unreadable and the drive cannot be seen by Windows as something readable.

Running Zero Assumption Recovery allowed me to read and pull off ALL the data from that disk.

Wolfgang, try using ZAR and see if you can recover some data from your Trek if it's not a bad hardware issue. You can download a demo that can do limited recovery.
