SO far my 10D does not have that problem maybe because I only use Canon lens.

I came across some users having that problem because they are using old Sigma lens.

Hi, I use a 10D too!

I suspect it got to do either with dirty camera contacts or the use of certain 3rd party, i.e. non Canon lenses.

Anyway, one suggestion is to clean the contacts using a pencil eraser ...

I got this info from this.

Hope you'll solve the problem soon!

Moved this thread to Canon sub-forum; your problem will get more attention there!

Have you exceeded your shutter count?

I'm using a non-Canon lens on my 10D too, so far until now no probs so i doubt it's the problem of non-Canon lenses.

even turn off the camera still not work.

then i off the camera , remove the lens, reattach it and then no more problem.

Actually initially i thought that Error 99 has something to do with the shutter count.

Err99 is a general error, so could be anything tat causes it. Err05 is more specific iirc, though I can't remember exactly what it stands for...

Err05 means that the flash cannot pop up.

Try cleaning the contacts of both the lens and body with an eraser/pencil.

At least now 30D have this function of explaining what each error means.

In this case your best solution is to bring it to Canon and spend some money to rectify the problem.

Shutter not resetting properly due to some mecahnical fault. I used to get that error just before it died. Basically, the leaves are out of alignment before death and tend to collide with one another denting and damaging. Also, when I first got the camera, I had these two errors when the weather was very hot and usually have to take the batteries out before the camera can reset itself.

Just my past experience with my 10D. I still use it now though cause I feel it's built pretty tough.
