Like it. A very classic feel to the picture. Just find that the bottom right hand corner is a bit distracting. Maybe can crop it a bit more?

i hardly ask for permission as that spoils the moment completely. I find that if i move slowly and deliberately, most ppl just ignore me. Asking just spoils the moment. The couple are actually store assistants who caught me in the act!

Thanks for sharing... I like your skill with the pano, some of the stuff are worth keeping but some are just basically snapshots in b&w like the 'prosciutto parma' & 'backpack' shot... curious to ask if you're fully satisfied with the whole series?

hmm....yes and no. As a series that is meant for friends back home to get a feel of the marketing experience in the uk, i think it is doing fine. The back pack shot will have to go at some point and a lot of other stuff in my flickr should be transfered over. But yes, a few snap shots here and there. Will sieve them out when i have more. Care to identify which are the ones u think are too cliche or snap shot like.....

I doubt I could do any better for street, maybe i've been heavily influenced by your impressively composed pano shots so I thought these were less than desired... quite frankly... composition of the
- prosciutto vendor - outside borough market with the sign are more standard stuff while the: - first shot lady reading book - backpack - flower bouquets look like snapshots Last edited by Rev; 3rd May 2006 at 09:05 PM. |

rev,
funny how we both came to the same conclusion. All 3 u mentioned were indeed taken randomly, backpack was while i was enjoying my coffee, flowers was with lunch in one hand and lady reading book was me testing out a new 28mm lens! hehe As for the standard stuff, i'm still keeping the prosciutto for the time being as i think it really shows the whole market stand concept while the one outside borough was just to show what is probably the most popular shop in the whole area, monmouth coffee!!!! Thanks for the critique though. This is certainly not my best roll yet! |

on the snapshots, I have this problem, sometimes stuff in the viewfinder look nice when U snap... but when viewed on monitor & printed, it looks like sh*t... dont know if U encountered this that day heh. B&W helps a little but not enough for me to keep the foto...
on the standard stuff, dont get me wrong, they're not fantastic nor horrid, guess they're filler material to give a little 'bulk' hehe. Since U're in med-school hell over there, maybe reshoot a few, gotta love hindsight sometimes, plus U get to sip coffee & take photos at the same time... unless you're one of those 'shoot once with film, that's it' typea guy? haha, as you say, med school hell. I go to borough frequently over weekends for the great selection of food. Normally just bring my leica along, since that travels almost everywhere with me. I have 5yrs to finish this project so most scenes will have repeat shoots at some point. I think its important to have a balance of both unique as well as normal shots in a book so that people who do not know the place well will still be able to get a feel of the area. The unique shots are good for ppl who have been there and hence know what kind of feel the area has.

is the backpack shot the one where a lady is half blocked by the backview of a sturdy looking guy with a backpack? actually i think the lady's expression is quite interesting, rather skeptical.. heheh. too bad the guy took up too much of the pic?
