just started out DSLR and i need some advices on lenses.
since i'm on a tight budget, i'll probably live with the kit lens for wide angle for now. been reading around advices from other threads, and i can say that the 24-28 to 105-135 range lenses are quite a hot pick for a walk around lens. so i would like to know if i could use the kit lens for wide angle and a 28-200 for a bit more reach if i don mind carrying 2 lenses instead of one walk around lens? or am i missing something here? or i could just go for a sigma 18-200 instead? really need some help. tks! |

Sorry to borrowing this thread.
I was thinking of getting this lens. Don't usally need such zoom lens but would like to get it just in case I need it. How's the quality for it's price? It is worth it? |

You may want to check out with Cathay Photo. They might still have the promotion for the EF 28-200mm f3.5-5.6 non-USM at around $500.

I feel you should shoot more, find out which ranges you use the most often before considering another lens.
The definition of walk around lens is very vague... some people like lenses that start at 24 or 28mm even when using 1.6 crop bodies. For me, that's not wide enough. I feel you should stick with the 18-55 till u get a better feel of what you need and can spend more than just $600. If you're itching to share you progress package with someone, consider the sigma 17-70 instead. Rem: the 24/28 - 1XX lenses were designed more for film/FF bodies than cropped sensor dSLRs. |
