The Tamron, from what I heard, should be here sometime in May/Jun while the Tokina will be in the market around Sep/Oct. Just like the current Sigma 18-50 f2.8, I believe they should price between $800 and $900. Those in the market a lens of this focal length will be spoilt for choice.

Ok, guess the tamron is about May/June. Optically the sigma is pretty good, but AF is definitely not. If the tamron is fast enough as compared to to the 28-75 then it will be great.

Huh...I thought with competition it should drive prices down. Still so expensive!

on the flipside, any of these lenses are still abt 1/3 the price of their original equivalents. so, i won't complain too much even if its ard $800. ![]()

Exactly. What is there to complain if they cost about 50% of the original lens?

If everybody (ie Sigma, Tokina, Tamron) can earn money together, there is no reason to kill off each other (Which will kill yourself too sooner or later). |

It's not good, too slow compared to the tamron (my 28-75). Tried 3 copies in the shop in fact. And I am talking about comparing them side by side, on both my bodies (D200 and 70). Not that it cannot lock or what.
PS. I am not a dud user of lenses. |
