Default had nothing to do... so...

read something about the noise issue, decided to do a little test between my 300D and 30D to check it out.

note: this test is just for fun.

Not surprising... the 300D used a 1st gen cmos sensor. A fairer comparison wld be with the 350D.

Doesn't the 350D ALSO use a 2nd generation cmos sensor?

I just love the image sensor from Canon although I'm a Nikon user. Seems like Nikon got a long way to catch up this time round.

but then again, does any one of you notice the slight banding in the noise of 30D at 1600 and it becomes more apparent at 3200?

Err isn't that my point?

Pls. read carefully.
I feel that comparing the noise performance of the 30D with the 350D would be fairer since they're both using 2nd gen sensors.

Of course, I do understand the djork prob. had only a 300D lying around so I thank him for putting this up anyway.

I do check my facts so its unlikely you'll catch me on stuff like this. But nice try.

Anyone going to post a 30D vs 1DMk2/1DMk2n noise comparison?

kross... your dream comes true.. most of it anyway.

LOL comparison of noise of just about all dSLRs on the market now.

Just a bit of help:
ペンタックス = Pentax
オリンパス = Olympus
二コン = Nikon
コニカミノルタ = Konica Minolta
キヤノン = Canon

Comment: Do check out Pentax's *ist DS2 @ ISO1600.. It's stunning at how clean the image is. Different type of noise, but it's as clean as the 20D. Removal of this type of noise is v v easy using lab colour, as compared to canon's colour noise.
Edit: Photoshop CS2 makes it VV easy to remove colour noise though, with no loss of sharpness.
