firstly... Welcome to Clubsnap (saw your first post).

anyway before we comment, mabbe can give an indication of your gear/setup? that way, can gauge whether the 1027 is suitable for you...

thanks,

this my current set up.

Nikon D100
Tamaron 28-200 XR
Sb 80DX
MB-D100
Will be getting a Nikon 80-200 F2.8 AF-S ( on permanent loan from a friend ).
Might be too much for the 1027 rite??? + a ballhead....

Attracted to the CF tripod because of it's lightness, nearly bought it on impluse at CP that day but was shove out of the shop because it is 5 min before closing, after cooling off I might be looking for other options.

Thanks again..

if you're not planning to get any super long or heavy lens (like the >300mm f/2.8), the 1027 should be fine i think, depending on what tripod head you pair it up with. it's a fairly good balance of weight versus stability, and at $450+, it's quite a good deal.

but as always, just lug all your gear down to CP and try out the tripod + head yourself. best way to tell if it's suitable for you and your gear. if you need company, lemme know. the tripod guys @ CP are pretty sick of seeing my face liao hahahahh....

Yah, too bad can't go to the SEED tonight, just took on 3 new jobs, must get it organized to get the ball rolling.

But do you think it justifiable to spend that kind of money???

It is like <$200 vs >$600 (tripod + head)
Anyway will further consider before purchase.

Thanks....

Greetings PentiumPC,

I reckon the justification lie in the intent.

Do you forsee yourself trekking/hiking/travelling a lot? Do you need to be very mobile with your tripod? (i.e. landscape photography vs still life photography)

The 1027 is a very light tripod, but a too little short for me. And is 4kg sufficient for your setup? An 80-200mm + a D100 +MB100 combination is not light.

At <$200, what other tripods are you considering?

But yeah, listen to Larry. Bring your gear down to test.
