Default Cannot edit text in PS?

I'm pretty sure that I used to edit text in PS if the text layer is not rasterised or flattened, but as of yesterday.. i can't!

Normally I can just click on the text and edit it like a word editor(with the text tool), I can select the words and delete, type, change fonts, etc...

Did I accidentally do something?

The last major change I did was change the windows paging file size and reallocated the scratch disk in PS (which later complained about poor performance yada yada..)

I've since changed everything back but it still doesn't work.

help?

is the layer locked?
it could be one of the possibilities.

possible.. but I'll have to go thru all the hassle of reinstalling a lot of other stuff.. :S

this is the ultimate last option I would take..
I'm sure there's some other explanation for this. Oh yes, another thing I did was to open a NEF file with PS.. should affect anything right?

Shouldn't be. If you want, you can email me the file and I'll try it on my end...

thanks all who tried to help.. I have no idea why.. but after several furious attempts to cut/paste/cut/paste and heavy frustrated pounding on the mouse..

the text got hilighted magically.. and I can now edit as normal.

Now it really made me look like fool.. oh well at least my work can go on now.

Thanks all who tried to help.
