Default How to get 1:1 macro from 1:2?

I have a 28-105mm nikon lens that comes with a macro switch. Although I could get quite close to the subject, the image is small because of 1:2

Though about close up filters, but I think it will not help. It will make the minimum focus distance smaller but does not solve my problem. Could anyone confirm my theory?

Any method to make my this lens 1:1 like a true macro lens?

Your theory is wrong. In making the lens focus closer, the image does get bigger.

Macro extension tubes are a better bet.

get an extension tube, it will make the 28-105mm to 1:1.

alternatively get a Oly DSLR, the 2x crop will turn 1:2 into 1:1, but of cos can only use it manual via adapter.

see sample below of what the 28-105 can do on the Oly DSLR.

    sample as it is, uncropped.

i have the 6T but found that the image quality drop a bit. also the range becomes too close for insects. if i'm not mistaken, using teleconverter will also result in image quality drop. the next best bet is the ext tube.

    have fun.

For the shorter focal length lenses, extension tubes are a good bet, but I doubt your range would be much better than using the 6T. TCs are the only thing which can double image size without losing range. Can also combine here and there, depending on your needs... my insect hunting gear is a 180/2.8 with a 2X TC and PN-11 ext. tube.

    Ok...

TC or ext. tube or both.

    Thanks for the quick advice.
