Hi Mendis.

Nice pictures. Whats that insect on your first picture? I think I saw one at SBG that day but couldnt be sure coz I accidentally disturbed the leave it was on while setting up tripod and it flew off. But it does have the standing wing type like that of yours. Colour is slightly whitish though.

Cheers,

thanks hanafi and tltan.

That, i believe, is a derbid fly. Very cute fly to shoot but easily disturbed.

Hi Mendis,

Thanks for the ID. Very cute looking fly indeed. Machiam abit "****-eyed" haha. The wing also looks fanciful and exaggerating for its body. Yah. Easily disturbed too. compared to fly.

Hope to be able to have good luck finding this subject soon.

Regards,
tltan

Wow! Those are some great closeups!

But maybe the layout is a bit centralized, could be more shifted to the sides? Just my views though
How did you go so close without startling them? You zoomed in with the macro lens right?

Sorry but I don't know much about lenses and their functions.

The fly can be found quite easily in lower pierce. Look under leaves though. Hope you find them..

Zone, thanks for your complement. Appreciate your kind words.

Hi zone. I have to move very slowly not to scare them away. No sudden movements. AND, I used a 90mm for these 3 shots. So my working space for lifesize with these pictures was only 5cm or so away.

No jerky movements.. slow and smooth.
