PnS DCs can produce pretty good IR photos when modded, the only issue is that there aren't many of them around with WA lenses. Most start at 35mm and the two that I know of that are WA are the Nikon CP 8400 that has a 24-85mm zoom and the Ricoh GR Digital that comes with a 28mm (fixed focal) lens. They both have accessorie lenses that can increase the WA but are extra purchases. Price wise quekky is probably right in saying that you may consider getting a 2nd D70 and modding that as these PnS WA cameras are all priced >1K. Cheers, Matt |

I did modify my Sony DSC-75 which I paid $1260 few years back then. after the modification the whole screen look red. so I switch to B/W mode. but now the cam can focus macro only. normal focus is out ,even though the camera "say" focus is lock. I just remove the IR filter only, may be need to add normal filter. , how to get a glass that size
so now I put back to original and it work fine. |

Ricoh GR is way too ex to get modded! But it does look promising as a IR backup. I fit mine with hoya IR filter. same problem with un-modded camera, I cant see Nothing on my LCD screen! So i am shooting blind!
Pump up Iso 400, get the grainy effect when switched to B/w mode. Argh, i want a modd camera, I need to win the lottery first! 2nd hand camera still so ex :|
