been thinking this thru
if 4GB of Kingston (2x2GB) is $200, are there any reasons to dissuade me from getting a 40GB PD70x for not much more? can anyone provide some insight? |

These's no reason not to get PD70x.
Believe the concern here is storage space. So, a large storage capacity coupled with cheaper per GB cost is good. As long as u have at least 2 CF cards to rotate, one in the cam for shooting while the other is poped into the PD to download images, it will workout fine. |

I've survived for almost 1 year plus with an external storage with only 512MB CF and a 256MB CF ... coupled with a PD7X ...
Main thing is, you can never have enough offline storage though you have a large enough CF card ... |

bad thing about NEXTCF to-thingy is that it accepts only
CF and nothing else these days, alot of good point and shoot uses SD you might bring along one point and shoot for holiday and find yourself needing something that take SD.............. anycase 4Gb CF takes 600 RAW but 40Gb PD70x takes 10times that |

I can confirm without any reservation that the Creative CF adapter is good to go with the NextoCF. I bought it last year at an introductory price of $39 at the Creative Jurong East building.
I've used the adapter with 1GB xD, IGB MS Pro and 1GB SD card. HTH ![]() |

i have both 2GB cards and a PD70x. i would say if you're going on a holiday and decide not to bring your laptop, a PD70x would come in very handy. the last thing you would want is to be constraint by the capacity you have to shoot, especially when ya shooting raw.
and to add, prices of PD70x are dropping as well.. a cheap 2.5" HDD is easily available. i will go for the PD70x anytime. Last edited by drumma; 29th April 2006 at 10:42 AM. |

a PHDD would be useful...provided u got the time to use it...if u are the type that needs the cards for fast chaning... a PD70x is not gg to help u man...
wat i suggest is to have at least 2 cards that give a reasonable amt of images from ya cam.... and then get a PHDD ...so that u can transfer 1 card as u are using the other... anyway....how large a card really depends...my camera takes only 160 raws on a 4gb card...and since memory cards are cheap now...y not... cheers |
