Just received notice from Epson that the older R-D1 model can be upgraded to the new R-D1s standard through an update of the firmware. The update will be available from June 1st on the Epson site. Received my notification from www.epsonrd1.co.uk.
The update might possibly be found at their Downloads page. The new functions allow for low-noise, format-filling photos, optimal image preview and extended color spaces. Last edited by Terence; 15th April 2006 at 04:58 AM. |

Oops, sorry, didnt see your Q until today.
I think the R-D1 has pretty decent noise levels despite some reports of poor noise quality at high ISO levels. I regularly use settings up to iso 1600 and find the quality acceptable. Perhaps not as clean as the current crop of Canon DSLRs (my only real world comparison) but would be considered quite good by most folks I would imagine. |

Can the R-D1 take all the Leica lenses?
