Chickadees building a home in a tree trunk

The tree was cut off at about 12 feet from the ground and the Chickadees were building 2 nests in the top. One nest was already dug into the tree top and the other was just starting out. They were digging them out with their beaks.

In this one, one bird is taking wood chips out in its beak from the nest that was already built into the tree while the other bird was standing beside the second one.

Here the bird is working on the second one.

Time to rest.
