Default Crab Spider taking a prey

My 1st pic posting here!

Here's a series of macros of a Crab Spider lying and waiting for it's prey in a Straits Rhodedendron flower.

Along comes an unsuspecting bee and WHAM!!! it is taken by the Crab Spider which grabs it lighting fast with it's 2 elongated front claws.

It then tightens it's grasp on the bee and probably injects some paralytic serum inside that poor bee. It spends the rest of the afternoon sucking out the living juices out from the bee.

D200, Nikkor 200mm f4, Manfrotto macro positioning plate on a Arca Swiss B1.

Nice series. Like the 2nd pic. The white on 1st and last shots were too hot for my liking.

I know exactly what you mean. Metering that white spider (especially the abdomen) against a reddish purple flower was a nightmare!

Thanks,

Interesting series. Good moment captured.

Agreed with the whites comments, and also the lizard borders....I think it spoils the good image.

Understand. Did they remove it after you protest?

Which website was it anyway?

Yes, they did. It was an article on macro but I will not name them here. Let bygones be bygones.....There must be at least 10 other offenders but there is no way of tracking everybody down, hence the precautionary "watermark".
