i have a 18-70dx 85 f1.8 and 70-200vr. i was thinking of getting 12-24 BUT, i read quite a bit of stuff on it and the lens doesnt seem to perform that well? pictures not being up to standards? my #1 choice would be 17-55 dx and would prob get it, but might not be wide enough in some cases ? so maybe a wide angle should be in too.

a 18-200VR might be more versatile... a 12-24 is much more specialised as a wide lens for landscape. i think the Nikkor's 12-24 is the best among the rest(3rd parties, but KRW says the Canon's 10-22 is much better! hehe). a 17-55f2.8 is a lens more suited for event coverage and a general lens. it is a 'pro rate' lens. u might like to state ur budget too. S$3k?

Any wide angle will do. I am also looking for AIS 28mm f2.8 or AF 28 mm f/1.4 or
AIS 35 mm f/1.4. TSM. |

The 12-24mm is really good for landscape.
But doubt you be using that much,if it was me,i would go for the 18-200mm for travel.

Since $$$ no problem, get the Nikkor 12-24 and 17-55 and bring your 70-200VR along too. The new trinity!
