Dear D200 users,
are there anymore banding issues with the new shipment of D200? And by the way, where to get one at a good price? Thanks. |

Some experienced users reported little or no banding in the later production batches. Try to get those with higher serial no.

Banding problem for D200? I have. Pretty serious problem. You can see the double yellow bands on the picture.
![]() On a more serious note: my 1-month old D200 works fine. I had to push the exposure way off on ISO speed that I hardly use to get some very faint banding. Thinking about it, it is quite a pointless experiment. Just buy the camera and have fun. |

Dear all,
thanks for your informative advise especially ESPN. I went to CP and tried the cam with S/N 60XXXXXX. ISO 100 - no banding - ISO 400 - vertical banding. I took a couple of shots on the ceiling lights and the banding shows when overexposed. So I guess taking care of not overexposing will minimize the problem. ![]() |

d200 still has banding and will always have them. if you are taking astronomy pictures of bright star/moon against black sky w 1000mm lens to fill the frame, it ca be a problem. otherwise, for normal daily kinda of pictures...no cause for worry.
banding only occur when near black meet against near white. if this happens in the shot, your eyes will look at the irritating white and close down to render ti slightly darker thus making the black even darker(perception). so no problem also |

The issue is, do we really encounter it when snapping normal shots?
Answer is NO... unless of course your idea of a normal shot is different from the rest. |

This is the shot I took. Vertical banding on the ceiling lights at ISO 400.
http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?p...296879&size=lg Anyone D200 owners without this problem? Is the banding occuring only on some D200? |

Banding is a horrible plague, and you might be infected by it. If your D200 has serious banding issues, I would suggest sending the cameras over to me immediately, and promptly switching to Canon where this... banding plague, does not seem to exist.
