Other than cleaning of CCD/CMOS, is the cleaning of the mirror and the focussing screens free?

Nope. The VF needs to be dismantled and that constitutes labour, charges can't be avoided.

What's the best way to clean the VF? No matter how hard I tried to clean, sure got some dust trapped in between.
Any ideas what's the charges like to clean the VF? |

That is really expensive. I guess I have to DIY liao... but those irritating dust is very difficult to remove completely.

I know how you feel, my F80 also quite dusty in the VF, but as long as it doesn't affect the film, just literally "close one eye, open one eye"

Never blow too hard inside the camera as you will end up blowing dust in the back of the focus screen or the sensor.
I had dust on my D200 focus screen that I can't get rid of no matter how hard I blow or brush ... it just get more dust in the back of the focus screen. I took the risk, I Locate the screen frame latch in my d200 and pull it towards me with the hooked end metal. Let the focus screen comes down (there are one more metal frame behind the focus screen) blow softly behind the focus screen a few times ... I used a fat tooth pick to push the frame latch and the focus screen back. The dusts are gone now at least from the my D200 focus screen .. still somewhere in my camera ?.All this took me about a min but it felt like an hour....Do it at your own risk. without the focusing screen tweezers I will not remove the focusing screen out of the camera. Most important, never blow too hard in the camera...it just move the dusts all around. I found this site very useful, http://www.earthboundlight.com/photo...s-screens.html |

Instead of blowing gently at the focusing screen when you flip it forward, better to take it out and blow and reinsert it back in, since it is already flipped might as well take it out. But pleeeaaase do not drop it, someone told me that it scratches easily.
I am looking for a tweezer that when release the tension of your fingers it grabs instead of tweezer that only grabs if you apply tension to it. That would help a little, I think. As always with these things, Caveat. Do it at your own risks. P.S. I believe if still under warranty NSC don't charge for cleaning the VF, call them to ask won't hurt. ../azul123 |

Put in clean room.. no chance of dust at all... hahaha
But then why you actually bother to buy a camera in the first place? They are meant to be used, so keep using it and you won't regret using it.... |

Finally got a reply from NSC. The cleaning of the focussing screen is free of charge for the duration of the warranty. I am going this following week to clean mine!

Great!
So we just have to do a sensor + focussing screen cleaning before warranty expires! Point taken.
