It might be cheaper but it might not be worth the effort to carry back.

Hi,

I bought cameras and Lenses in Japan. It depends on the exchange rate and the place you buy from. For Nikon 70-200 VR lens, currently Bic Camera is selling for Yen 226,800. If you have Bic Camera point cards (need to apply and get it at the same day), you will be entitled for 29,484 points which you can use the next day to buy anything at the store. Considering the discounted price (i.e. including the points), your total cost will be about Yen 197,000 (or about SGD 2700). Bring your passport to get GST exempted.

Hope this helps,

Regards
