Event : Adicolor by Adidas Venue : Raffles City Shopping Centre Atrium Level 1 Time : 7.30pm-8.40pm Camera : Nikon Coolpix 5700 Exposure mode : Manual (to avoid dark background and under-exposure), 1/60-1/125 (mostly 1/60), widest aperture possible for the various focal lengths used ISO : 200-400 (mostly 400). (ISO 800 on this camera is far too noisy to be acceptable). Flash : Built-in flash on camera (considering the long distance to the main subjects, this flash mainly has only an effect of illuminating the foreground). Total no. of pictures : 20 (All pictures are uncropped except picture no. 4 which has been slightly cropped to make the plasma/LCD TV inside appears more symmetrical in the frame.) Shot from far at the back and therefore didn’t get any close-up portrait shots. With 1/60 shutter speed, quite a no. of pictures suffered from motion blur as the models catwalked/moved/danced quickly. However, I quite like the motion blur if it was caused by the models’ dancing. As I used full manual exposure control and wasn’t keeping full track of picture histograms as I snapped, some of the shots are over-exposed on the whites and some are under-exposed when the lighting changed during the show. Oh boy! This show was not the usual boring fashion catwalk but one of the most enjoyable fashion shows I’ve ever come across. There were open auctions for 3 pairs of Adidas designer shoes followed by an extremely well choreographed catwalk with singing, band, dancing and hip hop music all rolled into one. Other than catwalk, the models obviously had practiced to dance not only well but also in sync. I normally don’t like to go shoot fashion shows but I’m mighty glad that I had gone down this time. Any negative comments or suggestions for improvement are most welcome. #1 The hosts : ![]() #2 Some of the models sitting on top of some displays surrounding the venue ![]() #3 Open Auction for 1st pair of shoes ![]() #4 Open Auction for the 3rd pair of shoes ![]() #5 Catwalk opened by a short verse of Classical singing ![]() Continue on next post for #6-10 Last edited by Clockunder; 1st April 2006 at 06:02 AM. |

# 16 (the white background on the right is grossly over-exposed and I actually have another shot with it properly exposed but comparatively, I prefer the facial expression of the model in black and the brighter faces in this picture).
