Seems to have a very high resell value. Saw sets going between $140 and $180 in B&S for 2nd hand sets.

Hi, should be about $175 (after bargaining at CP but MS should be 175 straight).
Can check out the price section on the nikon thread. Price dont fluctuate too much from there one. See no point getting second hand for this particular piece (CHEAP and GOOD!) as you might have other unseen problem. =) REgards, tltan |

if you've got extra $$$, would recommend you get the 50mm f1.4. i find the optical quality so much better than the f1.8.
as this lens will be used pretty often (at least for me), you will enjoy every bit of your investments on the f1.4 just some personal thoughts. |

Hi,
I will suggest a F1.4 in case you decided to 'upgrade' later I brought the 50mm F1.8 AF a number of years back. Although I love the result, I sold it and bought my current MF 50mm F1.4. It is quite a huge gap for the quality. Just my 2ct worth ![]() |

Sometimes you got to ask yourself what kind of quality pics do I want to get in the final results.
By looking at the aperture diaphragm, you will somehow noticed that there are blades starting from 7 to 9. The best is to choose the one with as much blades as you can (plus you can afford it within your budget). There are two design of blades you need to watch out for. 1) Rounded type & 2) Octagon (something alike) type. 1) Will gives you better bokeh (rounded out of focus highlight) if don't stop down further than f/5.6. The 2) Not so good bokeh as you can see that shape on the out of focus highlight. This are to my personal knowledge only & is just for your reference. ![]() Last edited by Spectrum; 1st April 2006 at 10:38 PM. |

With a digital SLR, the 50 mm will be 75 mm,is still worthwhile to get the 50 mm 1.4 lens then? Anyone care to advise? Tks.

It is how you use the glass to capture the light, the object at that moment you want to express and the effect on the object. ![]() |
