Leica digital M

My friend had tried the proto type Leica digital M,a very basic model and have a crop factor as the DMR,colour and performance almost the same as the DMR,estimate selling price of RM 27,000.00.

Is not a add on to the M7 but a new digital body,is build on the M7 body,anyone heard this?

the specs for the digital M are quite well known by now - new body, 1.3 crop, 10 mp or thereabouts, and without a doubt going to cost an arm and a leg. (rumour has it in the USD $5k range)

however, did ur fren REALLY try out the prototype digital M, or was it just the Epson Rd-1?

wat prototype? last mth's issue of shutterbug has already done a full review of the leica digital RF.

Hello, the linked shutterbug's review is for "Leica’s DIGITAL-MODUL-R", aka DMR, not Leica digital M lah

Actually, a PN member HUW FINNEY is currently building a digital M in his kitchen (codename: M2aD). It is a full-frame, B&W version and is supposed to be ready on 1st April. No kidding. Check it out here:

My friend do buy a lot from leica and sale a lot of photo to them,he even can get the 15mm R at RM 18,000 as the selling price is RM28,000.he also the first one in asia to get his DMR last year at a very good price,at RM 12,000,RM10K less than market price.the unit he test has very limited function.

Ask your friend to post one test shot from the leica digital M to let us "admire" such high class stuff, can?

The digital M story has been floating around for the past few years and there have been recent sightings of the said prototype. Your friend is indeed one of the lucky few to have laid hands on it. But for the rest of us, it's still very much vaporware. End 2006 is being touted as a release date but I'm not holding my breath. Epson has even updated their digital body in the form of the R-D1s and Leica still has nothing concrete to show.

According to him,is not look like the photo shown above,is just a body only with only a shutter button only,just a proto type only.

RM 27K is about RMB 54K
