Hi,
I just bought an EOS 30D and after taking a few pictures, I have noticed that pictures are terribly underexposed, especially in indoor photography. I use a Canon 550EX flash and although the flash indicates a normal exposure and the picture on the LCD screen looks good, end result when viewed on a monitor are not to my expectation. Could you please advise if there are any specific settings to be made prior to using the camera for the first time? I am not at all happy on seeing the results and any advise from you experts would be much appreciated. Look forward to hearing from you. My contact details are as follows : Email : vjj@pacific.net.sg Mobile : 9783 7130 Thanks & Regards Jois |

If the images looks ok on the camera LCD, and the histogram stays in the middle. Most likely its the monitor. |

if all else fails try adding +1Ev on the camera. But there's definitely something wrong, and it's not likely that the 30D will underexpose on it's own.

Hi.
Unless we can see the pixs as well as the settings, we can only speculate ... |

I can assure you it's 100% problem with the monitor you're using. Calibrate it for best results.

Always leave a small room for error margin bro. ![]() I think its more of the user problem over anything else. Though calibration is a major part in the digital workflow, typically, the biggest problem lies not with the camera or flash but with the fella.

I think you overall scene is bright (e.g. a lot of white color), thats why your flash underexpose the output hence you get underexpose photo.
