Default What's your feeling after handling Nikon D200 as a Canon User

"Shong" aka Good to feel and just nice in the hand.

I bet everyone is think this fella just open a thread in the worng forum, shouldn't it be in the Nikon forum. Damn...

Almost drew me to the the "dark side", I guess my mind wasn't strong enough.

Also played with my friend's D200. The look of the camera is very good, so is the feel. With many buttons, large LCD, rubber grip, the D200 looks much more like a real cam, than say, the plain looking 20D... not to mention my 350D with grip.

I also almost want to switch system until i think about the ISO ability of D200.

If you are talking just about grip, Minolta's got a even better fit. Just sticks so well to your hand. The Canon 1 series are pretty nice to hold too.

exact same sentiments...Canon also needs to work harder to make low noise ISO3200 a reality so that they can win over high ISO users...

Why would you conceivably want a 1n if you go the nikon route? Get an f5! Well honestly, if you don't do a lot of low light work and do mainly streets and travel, going Nikon is a really good idea if only for the flash system. I've thought about it many many times over, but I still love doing concert photography and Canon is therefore something I'm sticking to for the moment.

Canon 1 series for more decent shot or when the need for full frame while D200 for routine usage, I guess.

Not all 1-series bodies are full frame. and why should a 1 series produce a more decent shot? And having paid so much for a 1-series, you mean you wouldn't use it routinely?

"A camera is only as good as the photographer utilising it."
As for the lens, read my signature.

A rich chap buying the most expensive camera with 15 million functions can only produce photos as good as his skill and his determination to learn.

This is so funny. Read Phil Askey's take on the noise when compared to 5D here. "Up to ISO 800 there's very little noticeable difference in noise". Who shoots more than 15% of their shots with ISO greater than 800?

just curious, r the details still there at high ISO after the camera's in-built noise reduction takes place?

True enough.

But given a crap combination to a skillful photographer will be a handicap to the photographer even though he/she would be able to produce a good picture from that combination in the end, wouldn't you agree?

The saying goes "There is always a correct person to fill the right postion for an outmost reults" same with the "Right combination must fit the right photographer in order for he/she to excel in his/her shots". In saying so, I don't mean that I'm a good photographer. I'm just a learner like some or alot of the CS'ers here.

We're here to exchange ideas and pointers to enrich our photographic skill and not to scrutinize each other of their ideas/thought.

Cheers.

This is another potential thread that will lead to flame war.

This is not the first time people comparing the ISO or noise level between Nikon & Canon. Why is there a need to keep repeating? If you think that Nikon or Canon is good due to whatever reasons, just go for it.

I suggest that the thread starter closes the thread or asks the Mod to transfer your thread to other appropriate sub-forums.

This is defnitely a wrong forum to post such a thread.

Sorry can't answer that question as I seldom use high ISO thus I'm unable to compare with and w/o noise reduction. According the some reviews in the webby, it seems to have reduce some details but not visible unless you do a 100% crop on a particular spot/ area.
