Not surprising, but does deprive those who genuinely wants it. I already saw peopel selling the CP800 at a crazy price of $350 or so.

Probably. But I think he probably won't be able to get rid of his scanner @ that price and will waste his auction posting fees.

But I thot the voltage is diff if he is selling to US ppl. Oh well.. this is expected. I just hope that such thing will not prevent Nikon or other vendors from passing good deals to consumer in future....

Am I not surprised? I'd thought if anybody want to sell it off and make a quick 50-100 bucks, I wouldn't have mind. I could have bought it off him! Fact of life....

    This is totally expected.

Happens every time, but I'd think that the guy doing it would be have a higher chance of being from hwz.

Boils down to basic economics again. If other people think that the S$300 was worth paying for instead of standing the queue, they'd pay it. If they think it's worth US$300 to them, they'll pay for it. But then again, with scanners like the Dimage Dual Scan III for US$300, maybe they might not. So instead of ranting and raving, let the invisible hand do its job here.

And there are also people who scourge classifieds et al (e.g. eBay) for used stuff, then resell them at a profit.

I do know of an eBayer who outbid me twice on an item I was auctioning, and couple of days later, I see him putting up that same item for auction, at a higher price....
