Hi!
Was very intrigued with the IR pixs posted by the "qian peis" here that led me to jump on this as well. Love expecially the "snowy" scenes in sunny Singapore! Just got my Hoya R72 filter and am fixing it on my KM 18-70mm kit lens. Can't wait, so these are my two test pixs : Both pix are unprocessed. Followed the Sticky on the steps, but got a question ... how to do the custom white balance on the KM5D! Problem is with the R72 on the lens, it is so dark the custom WB calibration cannot be proformed. Did I miss anything? Thanks in advance. #1 Flash used: No Focal length: 18.0mm Exposure time: 15.000 s Aperture: f/5.6 ISO equiv.: 800 Whitebalance: Manual Metering Mode: matrix Exposure: Manual ![]() #2 Flash used: No Focal length: 18.0mm Exposure time: 8.000 s Aperture: f/5.0 ISO equiv.: 800 Whitebalance: Auto Metering Mode: matrix Exposure: Manual ![]()

First shot looks pretty good (color balance wise), hope you used a tripod as the photos are extremely soft .

Thanks ... it is indeed very soft compared to all the pixs posted here. I rested the cam on a ledge and switch off the Anti-Shock.
Anyway, I guess the effect is still not right since the Custom White Balance was not performed!

Yes ... this "hotspot" is evident in most of the pixs ... OK, did a search and seems like either I try to shoot wideopen or the kit lens is not suitable ... any other reasons? Why is this hotspot there? Also found this thread ... http://forums.clubsnap.org/showthread.php?t=168385 Guess, I'll try again.... Thanks.

Hi there,
Hotspots can be caused by long exposure time and also the type of lens you use. Based on your exposure setting, your shutter speed is very long, I believe that to be the cause. Can someone verify this?
