It's a pixel for pixel crop. Can be any size but when shown on the monitor, one pixel of the image will show up as 1 pixel on the monitor. This is compared to resizing the picture where you reduce the pixel count to fit the whole image on the screen. The 100% refers to the magnification of the image.

Pixel peepers like to look at full resolution images ("100%") to discuss the (lack of) minor abberations. To cut down on file size/network traffic, they frequently crop away most of the picture, leaving only small, but full-resolution patches of the original images.

Yes.. It is mainly for technical evaluation only.

IF I want to do a 100% of a 3000x2000 image, my crop size is fixed at 3000 and 2000 to achieve 100% crop?

Post the 3000x2000 without resizing lor. That's 100% 'crop' already. My D2X idol produce file size at 3000x2000 only meh?

If you want to do a 100% crop of a 3000x2000 image, you just pick any region of interest of any smaller size (eg 640x425, etc) that you are comfortable with and crop that out. The idea of a 100% crop is just to crop without resizing. If you resize to 1500x1000 then crop a 640x425 (or any other size) portion out then that's a 50% crop.

Don't think of the 100% as in 100% of the picture. 100% refers to the pixel magnification when shown on the monitor. I'm sure you know what you're doing. It's just the terminology.

Simpy put, crop (cut out) a portion of the pic, NO resizing is performed.
