And what are the differences between the 120 series and 35mm series? Are these representing the film the camera uses?

Sorry that I have to ask these noob questions as I am a dslr user who is interested to venture into the simplicity of point and shoot.

Get holgas from www.perlyinc.com

Yup, 120 and 35 represents the type of film. But you can modify your 120 series to take 35mm film.
