where do you rent this len from and how much does it cost you? Are you able to rent other things such as flash, camera bodys, etc ?...

By the way what is the cost for a new 17-40mm f/4L ?

good enough, you also need to engage the group, getting them to move closer, etc.

I'm renting it from a fellow club snapper. Yes there're other things such as flash for renting too.

    A new 17-40 costs around $1180.

Maybe i am weird, for me it's the reverse actually, I like to take as "telephoto as possible". So like i said it boils down to experience.

if 17mm too wide for your film body, then you can put at 24mm, 28mm, or 35 mm within 17-40mm range. no problem at all. I have no problem with 17mm coz i put in to my 300D 1.6x crop factor. I used to have 28-135mm lens and it is also another good choice in my opinion...

Nv take wedding table shots below 17mm! I tried some test shots using the 10-22mm at the wide end... Your guests at the sides will get distorted like in the movie 'The Ring' ... kinda freaky

If i can but it to 28mm and beyond, i might as well use my 28-300mm and save money on renting the 17-40mm, cos i need this range to do wide table shoots.
