Color Profile

I've been opening JPG files with Photoshop and it reads the color profile correctly as sRGB. But when I use the Preview program which comes with Mac, the color profile is read as generic RGB and the color comes out differently. It's only when I assign the sRGB profile in the Preview program then the color comes out correctly. Anyone knows how to solve this? And also I notice my Mac Firefox renders colors incorrectly compared to Safari.
