Set the camera to continuous mode.

Start a stopwatch and at the same time fire the camera without letting go of the shutter release until the camera cannot fire anymore.

Stop the stopwatch once the LED of the compactflash slot is off.

Check how many megabytes of data are in the CF card.

Divide this number by the timing recorded on your stopwatch.

You'll get ????MB/sec write speed of your CF card.

Hmm.. shouldn't you start timing when it first begins to write instead of when you begin shooting? Think some of the cameras have a storage buffer...

Is the speed really noticeable ? I mean the Speed of the CF X20 X 14 etc. I think at S$270 ... it is a good price. But I think the price of all the other CF may be going towards that price.

What do you think ?

i can feel the different b/w fast and slow card...
eg. with my Ridata 20x, it takes abt 1-2 blinks to write a RAW image

while with a Sandisk CF, it takes up to 8 blinks to write a RAW image...same setting was used to take the same shot for both CF

TwinMOS CF card speed is 24x~25X .

Read speed : 5MB/sec
Write speed : 2.6MB/sec

i never trust these figures from the manufacturer themselves....

also, the speed is depends on the device that u use.

yesterday i passed by DAT but forgot to try out this CF

the best way to compare is to test it against with my Ridata
