Wet mounting on flat bed scanners

I'd like to hear any info, workflow, materials used and feedback on this type of scanning on consumer flat bed scanners. Personally obtained far superior/sharper scans, compared to the supplied mounts, from dry mounting on an Epson. This is probably due to the flat surface. However, Newton rings on high contrast B&W negs are a prob but so far no problems on colour slides.
