Than you might likely be a "press button" master.

Perhaps you can share your "press button" techniques?

well, a lot of real experts here do not share their knowledge. Partly also becos photography is their rice bowl.

In every subject besides photography, there is always some "hidden secrets". There is why you will always find exclusive info hidden away from the forum.

For example, many professionals or experts will not care to share elaborated knowledge on specified topics such as:

    1. wedding photography how-to
    2. wedding montages how-to
    3. printing of large size canvas photos (where to print them)
    4. others

Naturally, sharing these information only makes competition for professionals tougher. Hobbyist may not be inclined to share too since they paid $$$ for their knowledge by attending training course.

Hundreds of people have attended specialised courses for wedding photography for example, but you will rarely see one who will detailed the information to share by doing a writeup or journal here. In fact, some would not even want others to know that they have actually attended formal training.

Is keeping kungfu a bad thing? Well, thats really not for me to say. Personally, I am an advocate of knowledge sharing, except that I do not have much of it -knowledge. (Maybe if I am pro, i will keep some kungfu lah)

but there are many other forums that such skills can be picked up. And if forums are too messy... there are always libraries.

Why point the fingers at the supposedly "teachers" not spoon feeding...rather then find your own resources.

which part did i said that i am pointing and blaming the supposedly "teachers" not sharing?

It was merely an observation. A trend that i did not endorse neither condemn. I even mentioned that I myself may "keep kungfu" myself. How did you interpreted my post???

Why not? A funny troll asking the most basic of human decency. Do you help someone in a car accident? You need a poll for that you mean?

imparting one's skills and knowledge is entirely different from saving someone who had jus met with an accident.

what's the difference? It's either you're selfish in both cases or you're not. Simple as that. Not need to be philosophical about it. Sharing is a gift, not a sin. It's either you have it or you don't. Want to or don't want to. Stop making excuses for yourselves by not helping others.

    of cos there's a difference!
one scenario has a life at stake the other, simply ur own personal gratification!

wherein lies the similiarity? what has sharing one's skills and expertise gotta do with saving a life in an accident? absolute mayhem!

what's wrong with sharing tips on photography with someone new? You mean you have to think about it?? Personal gratification? I am afraid your not making much sense. But yes sharing gives one a personal gratification. In fact it gives the other party some gratification too.

when you help someone in an accident, he'll be gratified for your help and in the meantime you accumulate good karma.

Shudder to think about how our kids are educated nowadays. Need to think before sharing???? Mind boggling.

sad to say, u're twisting the facts and making illogical references to defend urself.

saving someone else's life in an accident and sharing photographic skills and tips, are, i repeat, are 2 different issues altogether.

    when did sharing become SAVING?

Of course they are 2 different acts but coming from a same good intention and heart. When did I say they are the same thing? I just said to HELP someone is always a good thing and need no polls to determine concensus.

    Shudder..

Tell me, when is sharing photographic tips a bad thing? Besides being selfish? Is this poll asking why people are selfish?

    shudder..
