Price for FujiFilm Finepix S304

Hi,

Like to get an affordable digicam with more than average zoom. Think FujiFilm Finepix S304 is the closest candidate.

Think its predecessor is Finepix 2800Z and S304 is supposed to be 3800Z, but don't know why name is changed.

Any of you bought one from anywhere? How is the quality? What's the lowest price?

it's a 3 megapixel camera with 6x optical zoom. A week ago alan photo sold it for 690. Depends on ur luck and bargaining skills whether they will add gst to the price or not. The good thing is the price includes a lens adaptor and a camera leather pouch. But you'll have to spend some more on memory cards. The 16mb provided is not enough. It uses xD cards.

Oh dear, that means it won't accept Smartmedia cards anymore? That's bad cos SmartMedia cards are the cheapest and I already have a few of them for my Olympus Camera.

Any idea what's the cost of the 128MB xD Picture cards?

And the price of the camera itself is so much higher than its predecessor the 2800UZ but the camera looks the same in terms of features and form factor other than the xD card and 3 mega-pixels.

got the dc cheap but memory expensive

that's how fujifilm & olympus earn most of the $$$ from - MEMORY

It's not really expensive. It's even cheaper than SD cards actually. 128mb costs 105 while 64mb costs 55. 128SD would set you back around 130 i think.

Of cos if u compare with CF, it's expensive. But supposedly, besides its small size, the writing speeds are faster and the power consumption is lower than cf cards.

Thanks Mr Fish for the info.... Smartmedia writing speed really not very fast ya....

Think the xD card is quite worth it then... considering so many improvements....

i was at peninsula plaza last thur, besides the info counter, there is a walkway further in, at the corner there is a shop n the uncle quoted me $650 wif GST
