Default Your views on Nikkor MF 300mm f/2.8 ED

Guys/gals,

Saw a couple of these lenses selling for USD$600+ on Ebay.

Is it worthwhile to buy them to used on Dslr?

Thanks

D'oh, say before liao, Pro bodies + D200 confirm can meter with AI/AI-S glasses liao, D70 cannot.

300 f/2.8s aren't really heavy, till you've lugged a 500 f/4 around

Computrekker with proper arrangment layout of the inserts, 500 f/4 also no problem.

Me looking for the AI-S 500 f/4 or the AI-S 300 f/2

we are all too spoilt for AF nowadays.

long ago there was a time when ppl shoot with films/slides and their cameras require them to do focus manually and yet there were top photos produced with manual focusing.

i wonder why?

Wow... wonder what photographers of yesteryears before AF glasses appeared, what were they using to shoot sports, birds?

Interesting... ain't it?

I totally agree with you. We are now too spoilt by the auto foucs.

If you use auto focus, anyone can also take photos. Does it mean that everyone with fingers are photographer.

So I support manual lens. I think 300mm f.2.8 at USD$600 is reasonable. I support.

A photographer is someone who is able to produce picture with composition. Sharpness is the second concern. Look at those old photos with composition. They are not the super most sharp photos. But I think they are nice nice....

Interesting, your point on what constitute a photographer boggles the mind.

I relate to... this - http://forums.clubsnap.org/showthread.php?t=180451

Sharpness is relative.

I already said... the eye sees what the heart wants, and not what the eyes really sees. So much for being egoistic, too bad. Using a little bit of brains to think carefully would really help a lot more than just "get lost".

Check out my favourite Nikon Photographer's remarks on the AI-S 300 f2.8. - http://www.naturfotograf.com/lens_tele.html

Bjørn Rørslett even rated it better than the AF-S 300 f/2.8VR edition.
