Depends on which lens you are using, most of us uses a Hoya R72 which is commonly sold at retail shop. It is just a filter put over the lens. There are also Ilford, Cokin etc which are not so common.
Best is to join one of the outings that is going on, all bros at IR are very helpful, especially Teerex he moderator.

We usually meet on alt sundays...
But sats? you will have to look around... usually there will be one or two people who go shooting on saturdays. They should be able to give you some pointers to start.

Welcome to the group airforce1 and richliow.

We will be having an avid IR shooter from Indonesia visiting us next week and we're arranging another IR shoot on 5th. March 2006.

The thread for that outing will be out on Monday, possible location for the shoot should be Marina South area. Will be confirmed.

Join us if you can.

We normally meet up between 0900hrs and 0930hrs. Shoot will last till 1300hrs where we'll have lunch.

From there, those who wants to carry on shooting will proceed to another location that they decide during lunch. Those not shooting will break up and home sweet home.

That's our normal practice.

Do keep a lookout. sometime, it will be on a Saturday.

You are right, IR is Addictive...that's is why we are still here...shooting and constantly scouting for more location to shoot.

Hi,

I must say i am impressed with the beauty of IR photography and how it makes us look photography from another point. What type of lens or filter do i need?

What if i don't have the lens or filter to join the outing?

Cheers,
Fendi

Hi there,

I believe that there is no specific lens for IR but you do need an IR filter. The Hoya R72 is highly recommended though. What is the camera that you are using. You can use this link to check if your camera is IR capable. Anyway, I am a newbie to IR too. Still learning from the pros here.

Cheerz.

As you can see, some of the pple who join us, does not have a IR Filter yet. they just wanna have a feel of how it is like to shoot in IR before they commit themselves to buy one.

yup..no special lens for IR.
