what phil askey has said only serves to reinforce KRW's assessment that the D200 is king. D2X is obsolete and obscenely over-priced!

Actually, the DP review was the first one to make me sit up and take note of the D200's capabilites vs the D100 and also the Canon 5D...

Ya.... quite bad..... I have only seen slight hint of banding on edges of highlights (blown picture up to 100% and you must be really looking for them) on my pictures @ iso800 but nothing like what Phil has linked to his review.

Anyway, have to say the D200 is really good......

IIRC ... banding happens at iso 200 to 400, can't remenber where I read from.

I jus got my D200 (new batch), did the test (light bulb) and yes got the type 1 banding, funny thing is it mysteriously dissapears above iso 400. Banding is only visible above 200% (straight out of cam) but when you apply sharpening for, its visible at 100% Will post pics if have time.

Having said that, I have NO REGRETS getting the D200
