Default SB-800 Underexposure Indication: Can It Be Disabled?

Whenever you shoot with SB-800 in iTTL and if the image is not exposed correctly, the flash will indicate the unexposure amount. This feature delays the flash from recharging immediately and I find this feature very disrupting to the shoot where the main concern is fast recharge. Is there any way to turn this off?

i thought the delay is more because the flash empties all its charges and hence require more time to recharge, rather than delay due to need to display the underexposure amount.

the first shot underexposed, you shoot the next shot without wait for fully charge will also underexpose.

You want fast recharge, you can:
#1, shoot with direct flash.
#2, use bigger f stop.
#3, shoot with closer range.
#4, use 5th battery, or ext. battery pack. eg SD8A, Quantum 1+ or Quantum turbo..

the sb800 will fire even when semi charged??

but the underexposure display means tt at max power its still short by so much right? so its suggesting tt ur apature has to be so much bigger for correct flash exposure?

it will still fire even when not fully recharged.

yah, so if possible use a bigger aperture or increase the ISO.

IMHO increasing ISO will be a more realistic choice and usually can't really tell from the photo quality if u are going to resize it.

and oh yah, if the diffusser box is on, remove it.
