Default Macro/Closeup filters

I am interested in taking macro pictures. I currently have a 18-70mm on a D50.
From the Hoya website,
http://www.thkphoto.com/products/hoya/pro1d-09.html
http://www.thkphoto.com/products/hoya/oef-12.html
http://www.thkphoto.com/products/hoya/oef-13.html

Hoya sells 3 types of closeup filters.
One of them is a 2 elements filter which seems to be the best. However, it doesn't work on my lense (no available size). Any other recommendation?

y not consider Nikon closeup? for 52mm thread get the 3T or 4T and for 62mm thread get the 5T or 6T, all of them provides rather good quality

I can't seem to find any info on this filter on Nikon website. Can anyone point me in the right direction. Also, the 6T is 62mm. It would not fit my current lens.

For different filter size, you can try to use a step up/down ring. Anyway, thats what I do for my Sigma CU (58mm) to my 6T (62mm), and my camera is 62mm (but with a UV filter).

Here are a list of other achromatic lens. Do go for double element lens as they are better quality.

If compare the clearity of image, will close up filter better than extension tube ? As extension tube will has the loss light issue. I am using Nikon 17-55 & 80-200, thinking to use my existing len for macro without buying a new macro len.

I think buying a Tamron 90mm macro is better in the long run.

I am also thinking of buying a Tamron 90mm macro. Anyone knows where to get it and the best price? Asked around... the price I was quoted is S$620. Is this price reasonable for a new lens?

filter? I'm not using any. The front element is so deep in the barrel that I don't think its needed.
