I'm a newbie in IR photography,just about 3 weeks I tried photographing IR with D 50 and Hoya R 72 filter.This is my IR photo taking in Tegal Temple,Central Java-Indonesia ,lanterns for celebrating Chinese New Year 2006.Comments and Critiques are welcome.Thank's a lot. I am still searching workflow for post processing for making good digital IR photo.

First - WELCOME bdiarto.
Nice shot, good DOF front to rear. Surprising that at iso1600, the picture is so clean. Apart from pp described did you do any noise reduction/filtering? And no one would believe that that's a newbie shot. Keep shooting and share with us here. |

Excuse me,Iam forgotten,I'm using neat image for noise reducing.I just bought D50 about 1 month ago,and this is my first digital SLR.Before that I'm using manual SLR film camera.I'm newbie in IR although oldies in general photography.

Hi bdiarto,
Have to agree that Neat image is very good at noise reduction The photo is nice, but for me, it is overly noise-reduced. Actually you could get better results even with ISO200. Next time, maybe you could try shooting with ISO 200, Aperture priority F8, exposure compensate +0.7 (play around with this) and cover the rear viewfinder (D70 has a cap for this, i don't know abt D50). Shoot more and share it here |
