Bringing you back to your original question. What has this got to do with photography - to achieve that "dream impossible image?"

It is fine to talk about faith and religion in the Kopitiam section. But what is the link with the "impossible image"?

First there are people who keep on discovering and experimenting.
I am sure you are doing it too but at a different level (in photography I mean).

The beginner does discover and experiement too in order to learn.
The amateur does that too if he wants to advance further. There are the photographic scientist whose job is to experiment in every new task given to them. In all these areas you must have a certain amount of faith.

You also have a certain of faith that a certain speaker in a photo seminar will walk in to deliver his dues at the appropriate time allocated to him. So with deeper discoverers and searchers of new findings in imaging making, one must have faith in all the equipments that they won't break down during usage.

The impossible image is one that the world has never seen before, one that no photographer on earth has ever achieved. Earth people are clever too and do they used their brains more effectively or they are using too little of it. One need not go out to use the camera in order to get the impossible image!

    --------------------------
The teachers are the ones that must take note about the researching and items related to the amount of faith one has when doing an experiment for not only they shape they built nations too.

Correct, you must have faith in your planning about learning photography.
You must have faith that the car you are driving to work will take you there.
You must have faith that your eyes will have the ability to focus the subject or
You must have faith that the auto focus system of your cam will not fail you.

    ---------------------------------
So one must have faith in almost everything especially to errors made by humans around the world. The nations must have faith that emotional issues can be resolved through dialogue instead of violence. People always follow, so the blind lead the blind into creating violence around the world just because of a simple error make by ordinary human. So is it with photography too.

    I see................

    I look at it differently.

I do not have faith in my car. I only accept that baring unforseen circumstances, my car will do its job. I accept imperfections made my man. I have driven cars for more than 30 years. I have no faith in cars.

I do not need to have faith that my functioning eyes will focus correctly. When my eyes fail, no amount of faith will help me to focus properly. When that time comes, I will stop photography.

I do not need to have faith that the autofocus will work. Because I do not need autofocus. I use a system that, for my photography, is faster than autofocus.

And I do not need to have faith to plan my photography. Because I do not. I like randomness and failure. I prefer the unexpected. I prefer chance. With exceptions, I have little interest in faith in plannning. I am not interested in perfection.

    Perfection is so sterile.

ANd it appears to me that faith and planning have little in common.

It is good to know that you are one unique individual on earth that pro claim such features. Your opinions, ideas accepted but I will never want to have this unique person to disrub the mindset of ordinary folks that goes about doing their own thinking. Let the young minds have their path to grow into the champion direction.

Hurray for your strong will and opinions, you are a rare human indeed.
Before long, time has noted that human are all selfish and only depend on himself until he stop breathing and will never admit that the outer forces of nature and supernatural do sometimes comes in at play.

It is in the arena of imperfections that the supernatural have room to play.

It is imperfection in myself and what surrounds me that drives me to seek solace and comfort in SOMETHING that is beyond me.

Afterall, if I am perfect, do I need God?

Faith, a belief, a trust. So have faith in the correct things. What kind of faith do we need to take good photos?

In photography, we learn and practice to get good pictures and capture that moment in time. Freeze it.

I thank God I am not visually handicapped in any way other than my astigmatism and short-sightedness. Learning to appreciate the beauty of nature and things help me to keep a certain faith not so much in my own ability but more to see the bigger picture of the world out there.

Think about it, every time you press that trigger, can you see the beauty of what you have framed in your viewfinder? How did that those things come together to give you that beauty?

He who has faith in things made by man is a fool.
    And in photography, more so.

Have you ever bought a brand new camera, unpacked it and it was faulty ?
Say bye bye to having the faith that you were going to start taking photo's with your new camera.

Apart from selling cameras, I sell a lot of other man/factory made electronic things (top brand ones too).

I see brand new items not working at various times.

It sure puts a dent in faith.
    .................................................. .................................................. .................
I can set up for a shot knowing well that the exposure is going to be just right, the subject is in focus.
Do I have faith that the result is going to be what I expected ?
    I am not that foolish.
The subject may decide to move; the flash may not fire because it is having a bad day, the camera might decide to do an error99 for no reason.
A bird might decide to take a leak on the power cable outside and kill the power.

Instead of faith I have the unexpected, the elation, the "oh well", the self pat on the back.
Time, is an effortless construction :)

I had thought deeply about this for several hours. Initially I thought I might let you get away with it. But I won't.

Your arrogant attitude and parochial mentality smacks of the ways of the Taliban.

Who the hell you think you are to decide the "mindset of the ordinary folks that goes (sic) about doing their own thinking"? Are you the shepherd who does the thinking for the sheeps who can't think? Are you the saviour who protects his foolish and brainless flock from unsavoury influences? Do you think you are God? Or more than God? You hold the "Truth"?

We are talking about photography here. And despite gentle persuasions to get you to see things from other points of view, you stuck stubbornly to your concepts - such as

    "Faith in your car...."
    "Faith in your planning....."
"Faith that your eyes will have the ability to focus...."
"Faith that the auto focus system of camera will not fail you..."

You are entitled to stick to your ridiculous concepts. I have a lot more acid descriptions to describe your thinking, but I will spare the readers of this forum. Simon Cowell utterings are kindergarten stuff compared to what I have to say.

Your have absolutely no moral, religious, intellectual, or photographic authority to "never want to have this unique person to disrub the mindset of the ordinary folks....". You want to stop me giving my opinions? You dare to stop me speaking my mind? You have authority over me to speak and write freely?

Take stock of who you are. You appears to have a pathologically inflated sense of self importance. Unfortunately from the way you wrote, your thinking is as deep as the miniscule puddle left over from an inconsequential drizzle. Sometimes blind faith is a very dangerous things. We see a lot of this in the news.

This is a forum about learning photography. This is a forum for people to put forward views on photography (and sometimes non-photography issues). This is not a forum for you or me to control the thinking of "ordinary folks". Whether I am unique or not is totally irrelevant. What is important is that these "ordinary folks" will get a wide spectrum of viewpoints and decide which ones are applicable to them.

You and I are not guardians of other people's thought processes. You and I are not empowered to do their thinking for them. The only thing that you and I can do for others is to contribute our thinking and experiences.

Thought control? Mindset control? Learnt that from the Marcist?

You are not an "Ordinary folk"?

Get Thee down from your high pedestal, and perhaps there is yet salvation for you.

student: just to add, that's from the Communist Manifesto

Arrogance might not be a bad thing afterall. It usually comes with great confidence in the knowledge and ability of thyself. forward is entitled to his opinions and whatever creed he chose to follow, much as the rest of us are entitled to our own opinions. As for me, I choose to reject his fantasy and substitute my own.

I have absolutely no problem with anybody's self-delusions of grandeur. He is entitled to his opinions. He can chose whatever creed he wants.

What I do not accept is the arrogant declaration that he has the right to decide for others how they should think.

Gee, what's with all this bashing? Honestly, do whatever you think that makes you happy and stop throwing hornet nests at each other.

As for getting that image, I would say confidence, not faith is the key. The belief you could do it, and that it's just a matter of time ,preserverance, mastering and developing techniques
and luck (as I hate to admit it, student is right on this one). Of course you gotta believe you're the luckiest dude alive to pursue this discourse. Oh, and alot of research and reading.

Read , read and more read, and I don't mean this forum all the time. Riceball is a good place to start *nod**nod*.

Anyway, good luck in trying to achieve that goal. Hopefully all those mud slinging didn't traumatise you in asking such a question again =).
