Finally was able to test an Olympus XA I bought last December. Very happy with the results.

Tech question: I've tested a few XAs and found very little contrast in the RF patch, such that it was pretty difficult to focus. I was wondering whether the ones I had tested were lemons. How is yours? |

the cheapest you can get is a lil less than 150 BUT conditions might
not be good...some sell 150+ for used XA. the only prob with the XA is only the focus patch for the rangefinder part. in bad light condition...it's really hard to see. Other than that...it's a wonderful small cam focus dist is betwn 0.8 to 3m then to infinity. and the flash? well...the A11 refresh time is really a long time...get the other one ..er...A19 i think...but still ard 5 secs to refresh..cant remember. I too use it for family portraits. ![]()

I totally agree.
I have the xa , xa2 and xa 4. All are superb cameras. Great size for holidays and very very easy to use. I suggest an ebay purchase! |

Yes, I had one with the same problem which made focussing a problem in certain situations. |

i managed to get an XA but then the focussing selector doesn't seem so smooth. asked Ron's Camera in Adelphi and was given an estimate of abt $120 for repairs.
any other recommended places to go for repairs? and btw, how much will an XA2 fetch these days? thanks all. |

i have to agree that the XA is one of the best compact rangefinder i've used.
i've kept my LC-A in the dry-cabi ever since i bought the Olympus XA. i have 2 x XA and 1 x XA2. im keeping one of the XA for my own use since its still my favourite compact rangefinder. im selling the extra XA and the XA2 in the following links: XA with A11 flash: here XA2 with A9M flash: here let me know if anyone here is interested. prices negotiable but must be reasonable. cheers. |
