Default Pleasant Surprise - Common KingFisher

I was greatly pleasantly surprised to see the little but beautiful Common KingFisher near my workplace. It really reminds me that the beauty of God's creation can be seen everywhere, if only we open our eyes...

All shot with the FZ30 plus Tcon-17, External flash with extender. ISO80, f5, 1/160

I'm using the Nikon SB800. It's supposed to work with my nikon DSLR, but...I'm also using it with my FZ30 to save money , only problem is it keeps going to standby mode...

Great stuff. Save the heavy noise reduction- the details bird belly loses details. Some noise is good.

About the DSLR comments... I think you need a 500mm f/4 L to get this close from exactly where this shot was taken. $$$ BBB where's espn?

You're right about the NR. For some shots, more details can be seen w/o using NR. Here's the same one without performing NR on the subject itself

BTW, the total zoom of the FZ30 at 5MP EZ mode plus Tcon-17 is 535mm X 1.7 = 909mm. So if you use a 500mm f4, you will still need a 1.4X TC.

500 on a 1.6 focal length of Canon DSLR is 800. Shoot in RAW, crop later. Yes, you are correct on full frame.
